Art Talks

Lighthouse Photography by Gary Martin, Abstract Landscape by Stephen Moss, Tension Sculpture by Patrick McKearnan. Join the artists for a brief talk about their work at the start of the opening reception. As a former resident of Michigan, Gary Martin has spent more than 35 years photographing lighthouses on the Great Lakes and beyond. Stephen Moss knew at age 9 that he would become an artist. Discover his unique paintings of the dunes on Lake Michigan. Patrick McKearnan of South Haven has a game for you to play. The winner will walk away with one of his sculptures!

If you like Lighthouses...Daughter of a Lighthouse Keeper
Frances Platske grew up in lighthouses on Lake Superior. This author, artist, and speaker will share a brief history of the lighthouse, and stories of her childhood, alongside ballads from her book, We, The Keepers Kids. Call to reserve your space. Free for members; $5 for non-members.

Imitation may be the highest form of flattery, but what do you need to do to protect your original ideas? Carrie is an intellectual property attorney who has worked with Lawyers for Creative Arts in Chicago and other artists in Indiana including Mid America Filmmakers. Sculpture Workshop with Patrick McKearnan
Join Patrick for a brief talk about his tension-based. mixed-media sculptures. Then head to the sculpture studio where you will use a variety of found objects to create your own sculpture. This is a great opportunity for families and artists of all ages to create artwork together. RSVP's required. Free for members; $5 for non-members.


Free Noontime Videos

Join us at noon on Wednesdays for a mid-day art video. After the video, enjoy a lively discussion with artist and educator, Lorie Jesperson.  This series is free and open to the public.  You are welcome to bring along a sack lunch; coffee is provided.
